THE LF MARKEY EDIT – The Other Art Fair

We were lucky enough to take a look around the Other Art Fair earlier this spring, showcasing some of the most talented artists across the globe. Put on by Saatchi Art, the show took place in the iconic Victoria House and acted as a platform for established and up-and-coming artists alike.

We put together a list of some of our favourite exhibitors below.

Marit Geraldine Bostad

Norwegian artist Marit Geraldine Bostad set the tone of the event with her mainly large-scale paintings, inspired by the crude landscapes of her home country. Understandably chosen as one of the “Four Must-See Artists on the 2017 Other Art Fair”, Bostad creates her stunning pieces in her naval-base-turned-art-studio in the town of Horten, Norway.

Laura Fishman

Laura Fishman began her career after studying expressionism in New York City. She now creates artworks using various methods, one of which is displayed in our favourite, the ‘poured’ series which uses translucent and opaque layered paints from her studio in East Finchley.

Joanne Hummel-Newell

An artist that caught our eye from the start, Joanne Hummel-Newell uses mainly paper materials to create collage pieces with playful colours and engaging depth. The latest addition to her impressive portfolio is her work as artist-in-residence for the GROW project by the Arts Council of England, taking place on near her home on the Isle of Wight.

Bob Aldous

Using silk as the base for many of his works, British artist Bob Aldous opts for soft mediums like watercolour and pencil. With experience that spans over three decades, Aldous has refined his work to beautifully depict his interpretation of his relationship with the natural world around him.
